Develop a LinkedIn Routine to Help Land Your Next Job

October 24th, 2014

Social media has become the go-to place for job seekers whether or not they are unemployed. People are using LinkedIn at an incredible rate these days to connect with companies, clients and other professionals from their industry to discuss hot topics , and find open jobs in Atlanta. We are in the world of constant change, and the same goes for the job industry. People change jobs every couple of years, more so than ever before, which means they need to have a place to improve their career.

Update Profile Regularly

One of the most important things you must do when creating a LinkedIn routine, whether or not you have a job, is to update your profile regularly. The longer you let your profile go stale, the further down in search rankings it travels. If you are managing your career, you should update your profile once per month. If you are in active job search mode, you should update your profile once per week.

Use Updated Keywords

As with your resume, your LinkedIn profile must have keywords in the correct spots. These keywords need to be updated often because keywords change routinely. Keywords need to be updated every so often in an effort to keep your profile fresh. Another tip you need to consider taking advantage of is using all 50 of the skills LinkedIn permits you to use in the Skills & Expertise section of the profile.

Share Your Brand

You should use the status update section of your LinkedIn profile to share your career and personal brand with your followers. By doing this you will get your brand out not only to your followers, but also to the entire LinkedIn network. This will help to get your profile noticed and possibly even connect you with an employer or two who is looking for a candidate.

Post Fresh Content

Another excellent tip here is to post fresh content to your LinkedIn profile page as much as possible. The more often you post fresh, relevant content, the more likely it is that your Google ranking will improve. The more you get noticed by Google, the higher your chances are that you come across some job opportunities.

Take Part in LinkedIn Groups

LinkedIn provides its users a plethora of features to help them build their career and their professional brand. One of those features is that of LinkedIn Groups. The more often you take part in LinkedIn Groups and meet the people within them, the more likely it is that your career will take the fast track to improvement.

If you are a member of LinkedIn, but have yet to take advantage of any of the features, you need to begin doing so immediately. The more you use LinkedIn and all it has to offer, the better off your career will be in the long run.
