Tips for Attracting More Candidates to Your Job Posts on Social

October 11th, 2019

Social media is an undeniable force in this world and it’s quickly becoming a major player in the hiring game. While LinkedIn used to be considered the only site for work, it now faces more competition from other platforms getting into the game.

Because you can reach and target an active audience, you want to make sure you’re doing it right. It’s not as simple as posting your job opening and hoping for the best. Here are 4 tips to help you attract more candidates on social media.

Find the appropriate platforms.

Social media is not a one size fits all operation. Each site has its distinct characteristics and audience. Before you can make your posts to reach people, you need to make sure you’re choosing the right platform. Consider your target audience and do some research into the top demographics for each site. This will help you determine what best aligns with your company and your mission.

Find what engages your audience.

Once you’re posting, you have to do a little bit of trial and error to determine the kind of content your audience will respond to. Unfortunately, there is no magic formula. Other company’s insights and findings for similar audiences may help guide you, but ultimately you can only learn by trying it out. Try a combination of images, videos, lives, and more to see what resonates with your audience. After a few weeks to months, you can determine what they respond to best and plan your content around that style.

Find when works best.

Similar to discovering what your audience is looking for is figuring out when they’re looking for the content. Social media sites typically offer an analytics side to those registered with business accounts. Platforms like Facebook shows a detailed breakdown of date and time so you can track which times on which days see the highest level of visitors and engagement.

Find help in your organization.

Ultimately, your greatest allies are your current employees. Ask them to be engaged with your platforms and share the openings with their friends if they’re comfortable doing so. Not only will you reach more people this way, you’re automatically showing that people want to work there.
