Relocating to Atlanta: Check Out These 5 Hot Spots

July 12th, 2019

Atlanta is a diverse and beautiful city, but like all cities can be overwhelming when relocating. From the deep history in the area, to innovative improvements to make the city more walkable, there’s so much to see and do. Instead of being bombarded with options, start with these five Atlanta hotspots to help you get to know your city better.

Farmers’ Markets

This hotspot is actually several in one, but a quality farmer’s market is important because it can get you out into your community, help you buy local, and provide delicious food for your table and goods for your home. The history of markets in Atlanta is extensive and it’s proud to be home to the Sweet Auburn Curb Market, Dekalb Farmer’s Market, and the Buford Highway Farmer’s Market. Wherever you settle, find one of Atlanta’s amazing farmer’s markets near you.

Piedmont Park

Being in the south, the heat will become your friend. When you want to get outside and bask in the warmth, Piedmont Park is a great place to start. While there are many beautiful parks in Atlanta, this one is similar to Central Park in its proximity to the downtown area. You can take in a spectacular view of the city’s skyline an enjoy its rich history. Originally created in 1895, Piedmont Park is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Explore Microneighborhoods

Again, while this isn’t necessarily one place, it’s a wonderful introduction to the culture of Atlanta. The city itself is known for being car-heavy, but many of the smaller neighborhoods are walkable and offer you a unique perspective of the city. Even better, projects like Atlanta BeltLine are helping to connect these areas with trails and other types of accessible transportation, meaning you can spend a day exploring without hopping in and out of your car.

High Museum of Art

Known regionally as ‘The High,’ this is one of the top visited art museums in the world, historically ranking in the top 100 out of more than 50,000. Because of its collection and status of one of the leading art museums located in the southeastern part of the United States, it’s a must-see for anyone in the area, even if art isn’t your passion.

Take an Atlanta Food Walks your

Another excellent way to learn about the city and its great eats is to go on an Atlanta Food Walks tour. These guides are the experts in the culinary scene and will take you to the best places to eat in Atlanta. There are different tours for different regions, and you can also request a private tour.
